1/5/2008: Details on plans for 2008 will be posted to this site in coming months. Merchants interested in vending here can sign up to our mailing list to receive e-mail when an announcement is made. For entertainment, casual planning has the event going in a more family oriented direction for 2008 instead of being a music festival.
Dress the Part
We certainly encourage you to attend this event in your best outdoor western wear - boots, cowboy hats, etc. Heck, if you want to come in full western costume, that's fine too (but please, leave your rifles and six shooters home). If you feel the need to pick up some new duds, here are a few places we can suggest (and you might even see a poster for this event there when visiting):
- Southwestern Expressions (Coon River Mercantile) in Southridge Mall - You have to see this place to believe it. Up front is a selection of western themed gift type items, but in the back they have Civil War era outfits and wild west stuff, including accessories (need a wooden toothbrush?). Very nice, and several of our lead stunt performers are in clothing from this place. (In fact, much of what the two fist fighters in our TV commercial are wearing came from here.)
- RCC Western Store in Valley West Mall and Southridge Mall - We've already bought some hats, boots and country duds from this place. They seem like nice folks.
- Theatrical Shop in Valley Junction - If you want to be a saloon girl, outlaw, or gunslinger, this place can fix you up. They have costume rentals and also sell bits and pieces.
If you stop by, tell them the Des Moines Wild West "Family Fun" Fest sent you!
